How to play Wordliest
Solve a daily jumbled grid. Every letter is used exactly once across a set of hidden themed words.
Tap letters to form words, hit Check, protect your streak, and climb the leaderboard.
1. Objective
- Each puzzle has a fixed set of words (for example 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 letters).
- You must use every letter in the grid exactly once across those words.
- Words follow a theme (e.g. 4 ANIMALS, 2 COLOURS, 6 FRUIT) and the number next to it tells you how many letters are in that word.
2. The grid
Tap letters in any order to build a word. The grid is jumbled on purpose – you are NOT meant to read words straight off the grid.
When you tap letters, they appear in the light blue Current guess bar at the bottom of your screen. Tap again to undo or use undo.
3. Your fixed control bar always visible at the bottom of the screen.
- Check – submit your current word. If it’s valid and fits the theme/length.. well done! It's locked in!
- Assist – reveals starting letters for one of the remaining words. You can use up to 3 times to get the first 3 letters of a word. But each click costs points.
- Undo – deletes the last letter you selected.
- Clear – empties your current guess so you can try a new word.
4. Pips & themes
Tapping the theme row highlights letters that carry that theme’s pip. Very useful to visually highlight tiles.
- Pips = clues. Apart from word length and the theme, pips are your main clue for which letters belong to a word.
- Each theme row (for example “4 COLOUR”) is saying you are looking for a 4 letter word that is is a colour, and from above A E O are in this word!
- As you play, letters you use to spell a word when checked are marked with all theme pip colours that contain that letter (except for the Pro version which only highlights for the word length you check).
- When you tap a theme row, the grid highlights letters with that theme’s pip. If two A tiles highlight, it only means both have that theme’s pip – it does NOT guarantee the final word has two As.
5. Scoring & streaks
Think of your score as: max letters − penalties.
- Max score: each letter is worth 1 point. In Wordliest 25 there are 25 letters, so the best possible score is 25 if you solve it perfectly on the first try with no hints.
- Wrong Check: every incorrect Check is −1 point.
- Assist: every Assist is −2 points.
- Wasted pipped letters: if you “check" a letter (it picks up a pip) but it doesn’t end up in the correct solution, you lose 0.25 points per letter.
- Streak: finish the daily puzzle to grow your streak. Miss a day or fail the puzzle and your streak resets; your score and streak feed into the leaderboard.

6. Signature & Endgram
After each game, the summary screen can generate fun shareable text. These are designed for copy-and-paste into messages or social media.
-
Signature – a visual “fingerprint” of your game using coloured blocks and icons.
It captures how your solve felt without giving away the actual words.
